Japan and Turkey International Seminar

Center for International Education and Cooperation        April 9, 2013

In commemoration of the Japan Year 2010 in Turkey, implemented in 2010 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Kwansei Gakuin commenced an exchange program with Kocaeli University in Turkey. Located approximately 1.5-hours drive from Istanbul, Kocaeli University has experienced suffering from a great earthquake, just as our University has. The Japan and Turkey Intercultural Seminar is held annually in Turkey and Japan alternately.

Students play central roles in planning and organizing the Seminar, whose programs include discussions on such themes as culture, history, peace and earthquakes, observation tours to various facilities, and workshops. The Japan and Turkey Intercultural Seminar aims to enable students in the two countries to deepen mutual understanding that transcends language and cultural differences and to grow as world citizens, by living together for about two weeks.
