A music festival commemorating the 125th anniversary of the founding of Kwansei Gakuin University was held at Festival Hall on August 23. The music festival was a huge success with more than 2,000 people in attendance.

The Kwansei Gakuin Glee Club, with a history of more than 100 years, and the Kwanseigakuin Symphony Orchestra gave excellent performances. For Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, a total of 180 male choir members excluding soloists sang in chorus. It is uncommon that this symphony is performed by a male choir.

At the end of the music festival, the two groups gave a joint performance under the baton of Mr. Takeharu Nobuhara, the music director from Telemann Institute Japan. The festival concluded with the school song “Sora no Tsubasa,” which was exuberantly sung together with the audience.
