On August 18th, Kwansei Gakuin University opened an Indonesia Liaison Office at its partner institution, Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU), also known as Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (hereafter referred to as UKSW), in Salatiga, Indonesia. This will be KGU’s fourth overseas office, in addition to its Canadian office in Toronto and its Chinese offices in Jilin and Suzhou.

An opening ceremony was held for the office, where UKSW President John A. Titaley and KGU Vice-President Takahiro Shinyo signed a partnership agreement. An additional ceremony, held to commemorate the two universities’ 40-year relationship, was attended by roughly 30 staff, graduates and current students from both universities.

"Among booming ASEAN countries, Indonesia, which has the fourth-largest population in the world, receives more and more attention every year. However, it is unusual for Asian universities to have a partnership over 40 years, continuously engaging in academic and student exchange. From this point forward, as we put this office to use, we will aim to develop our mutual relationship even further, and empower our university’s efforts in Indonesia," Shinyo said.
