On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Dr. Anna Schrade, Associate Professor at the Institute for Industrial Research, gave the EU-Japan Friendship Week Lecture on "Young people in Europe: why life is not always easy".
The lecture presented various perspectives on European young people, based on statistical data on marriage, childbirth, employment, education, and migration status in the EU member states, as well as on the social and economic situation in each country.
The second half of the lecture was more interactive, with questions to the participants. There were many comments from participants, especially on lifestyle aspects that are different from Japan, such as Europeans’ flexible views on marriage and the high rate of children born out of wedlock in the EU.
