Report：SIS Online Open Day for International Students
SIS Online Open Day for International Students was Held on August 3rd - 4th, 2021.
The SIS held its first online event for English speakers (SIS Online Open day 2021) on August 3 and 4, 2021, mainly for those considering enrolling in the SIS as English-based International Students (EbISs).
On August 3, three mock lectures were conducted in English using Zoom in an online simultaneous interactive format by Professor Mineo Takamura (Title: The Representation of the 1918 Flu Pandemic in Katherine Anne Porter’s “Pale Horse, Pale Rider”), Associate Professor Francois de Soete (Title: Social Contract Theory and the Legitimacy of Government), and Associate Professor Jeet Sapkota (Title: Development Studies in a Globalized World).
On August 4, Professor Tsu Timothy Yun Hui, Professor Haruo Iguchi, and Assistant Professor Taslima Akhter gave mock lectures titled “The Chinese Who Came to Japan on the Black Ships,” “U.S. Foreign Relations in Historical Perspective,” and “Business and Society Go Hand in Hand,” respectively, in an online simultaneous interactive format as well.
Moreover, current EbIS students joined in the Talk Sessions moderated by the SIS Dean, Professor Yukio Miyata. The sessions gave participants chances to hear the actual voices of students studying at Kwansei Gakuin University and were concluded on a high note.
