- Professor Hiroyoshi Miwa Receives the Distinguished Educational Practitioners Award from IEICE

On June 6, Professor Hiroyoshi Miwa (School of Engineering) received the Distinguished Educational Practitioners Award from the The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) in recognition of his efforts in leading the AI Solution Architect Training Program at Kwansei Gakuin University.
Due to recent technological innovations centered on artificial intelligence (AI), the world is entering a historical turning point. What is required in society today and in the future is human resources who can understand and utilize AI, data science and related technologies, across both humanities and sciences, and educational programs to foster such human resources are indispensable. Prof. Miwa has been leading the development of an AI Solution Architect Training Program at KGU for several years and launched it in AY2019. The program has been widely offered not only within the university but also outside the university, and has so far produced a large number of AI-based human resources.In addition to presentations in publications and research groups, Prof. Miwa has given numerous lectures at the request of companies, educational institutions, and local governments, and is actively engaged in educational activities to foster human resources for AI applications. The results of this program have been highly evaluated and introduced at more than 100 companies in various industries and other universities through strict checks by each organization, including from the viewpoint of cost-effectiveness, and have already produced a large ripple effect.

Thanks to Prof. Miwa's promotion of such effective and influential activities, he was deemed worthy of the Distinguished Educational Practitioners Award.
