Message by Professor Kyoichi Marukusu of the Kwansei Gakuin University School of International Studies (Vice President and Executive Dean of the Organization for Worldwide Collaboration):

As a school which welcomes international students, those of us at Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) are delighted to hear the Japanese government’s announcement with regard to the easing of border control measures for international students. As of February, approximately 230 international students at KGU are currently unable to enter the country. We have made arrangements for these students, such as allowing them to take courses online and providing various forms of financial support. However, they have been forced into lifestyles which are far from normal campus life. In addition, two years have already passed since we have also been forced to suspend our acceptance of exchange students from our overseas partner universities. Each and every one of them is a member of our community.

After carefully observing government border control measures and the necessary procedures for entering Japan in the future, we will move forward with essential preparations without delay, so that international students who are waiting to enter Japan will be able to study at KGU as soon as possible. We will also continue to provide support for international students' mental and emotional concerns, while working with each of them on an individual basis.
